Here at BPP Education Group we have a dedicated Social Impact Team that designs and delivers projects enabling students and learners to develop new skills and gain new experiences, while giving back to the local community. Within the Social Impact Team sits our Legal Advice Clinic, one of our flagship projects that delivers clinics in enterprise, housing, welfare rights, environmental law, family law, immigration and human rights, as well as a general law clinic.
As BPP continues to expand, a unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced Solicitor or Barrister with considerable and varied expertise to develop and manage the BPP Enterprise Clinic. The role will include clinic management and the supervision of student advisers who will advise our clients on a range of legal issues.

What you’ll be doing
In this role you will engage volunteer lawyers from across BPP’s law firm clients, supervise a QWE placement from time to time and set up and manage externships and opportunities relating to our Enterprise Clinic which covers small startup business queries in relation to corporate, commercial and IP. You will work closely with the Head of Clinics, other Social Impact Managers, the Head of Social Impact and the Social Impact Co-ordinator.
As such, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising cases in the Enterprise Clinic and attend the clinic sessions
- Expanding BPP’s partnerships with external charities and community groups providing opportunities for students and learners
- Ensuring the provision of high-quality legal advice to BPP clients
- Assisting with the design, co-ordination, implementation and management of projects related to the Clinic’s practice area
- Collaborate with Student Directors appointed to assist in the running the projects
- Recruiting and liaising with volunteer lawyers to supervise our projects
- Recruiting and training student volunteers from among BPP law students and volunteer supervisors from among BPP Lecturers and outside Solicitors
- Promoting the Social Impact Team to student and learner volunteers, including at programme inductions across the business, at Virtual Open Evenings and at BPP events
- Promoting the clinic to potential clients and/or referral agencies
- Assisting with the development of BPP\\\’s Social Impact provision within the law school and within other BPP schools
- Attending conferences and committee meetings in order to exchange ideas within the Social Impact community
- Line management and supervision of a trainee solicitor or QWE placement, as and when required
What we\\’re looking for
To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:
- Qualified as a solicitor/barrister in England & Wales with a current practice certificate
- At least two years PQE is preferred
- Significant expertise and practice experience ideally within Corporate, Commercial or IP
- Prior experience of university legal clinics and/or Social Impact in the provision of legal services would be advantageous
- Knowledge of explaining legal principles clearly and simply both orally and in writing
- A willingness to develop legal knowledge to supervise additional areas of law
- An ability to be resilient, working on own initiative & under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and networking skills that enables you to gain trust and establish credibility with learners, staff and clients at all levels as well as senior leaders and stakeholders
- Ability to research and convey complex information to a variety of audiences in a variety of formats
- Excellent attention to detail, with ability to prioritise tasks, work to deadlines, and see projects through to a successful outcome
- Excellent digital literacy skills with the ability to gather, interpret and analyse data and metrics
