This Apprenticeship involves learning and putting into practice the broad range of ICT technical support skills, including customer care. Primarily a first line support position supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the school’s ICT systems under the guidance of senior ICT staff. Duties typically include providing first‑line technical support to staff and students, setting up and maintaining computers and classroom technology, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with user accounts and devices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This Apprenticeship involves learning and putting into practice the broad range of ICT technical support skills, including customer care. As part of this role, you will be undertaking ICT Technical duties such as:
- Providing first line helpdesk support to students, staff, contractors and visitors.
- Installing new software, hardware upgrades and replacing components as and when required.
- Maintaining the upkeep of the school IT inventory.
- Monitoring and logging helpdesk issues on the IT support request system.
- Supporting staff setting up and preparing equipment around the school e.g. Assembly set up, presentation evening.
- Setting up laptops, projectors, whiteboards, sound systems as and when required, ensuring they are ready to use.
- Providing basic maintenance and cleaning support for all computer equipment and networks, including the connection and commission of new equipment and security marking.
- Using systems to set up accounts and reset passwords.
- Setting up and installing printers.
- Receiving and checking deliveries and associated invoices.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. You will be based in our ICT Technical Office. Your training and work experience will be structured to meet the requirements of a Level 3 ICT framework. Term time working arrangements are routinely operated within schools which involves you attending your place of work during the school’s normal opening dates. Where it may not be possible to attend the workplace during school holiday closure periods, the school will provide you with additional work to undertake in support of your training during this time. There is also an expectation that you will continue with your studies including attendance at your training provider during this period.

GCSE Grade A*-C or equivalent Maths, English and IT where applicable (functional skills support will be available, where appropriate).

As part of your wider duties and responsibilities, you are required to promote and actively support the schools’ responsibilities towards safeguarding. Safeguarding is about keeping people safe and protecting people from harm, neglect, abuse and injury. This will be drawn to your attention through the training contract, induction, ongoing performance management and through council communications. Please note you may be asked to undertake further checks prior to appointment, including Criminal Convictions, Safeguarding and Health Screening.
Future Prospects:
While no promises can be made if the level 3 apprenticeship is successfully completed there may be opportunities for continuing studying for a level 4 qualification or a permanent position as an ICT Technician.
