We are looking for a detail-oriented and diligent Marker to join our team (on a freelance basis), where you will be working across our School of People and Skills Development.
The purpose of this role is to provide high quality, consistent, and standards aligned assessment of learner submissions across HR Apprenticeships and CIPD Levels 3, 5, and 7. The postholder is responsible for making fair, evidence based judgements against CIPD assessment criteria and apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours where applicable. The role ensures all marking is accurate, reliable, and completed within required timeframes, offering clear, constructive feedback that supports learners’ academic development and professional growth. By applying expert HR knowledge and maintaining full compliance with CIPD and provider quality assurance requirements, the postholder upholds the integrity of qualifications and contributes to a rigorous, positive learner experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess learner submissions at Levels 3, 5, and 7 against CIPD assessment criteria and apprenticeship KSBs where relevant.
- Apply consistent, evidence-based marking to ensure fairness, accuracy, and compliance with CIPD and provider standards.
- Provide high quality written feedback that is developmental, constructive, and aligned to learning outcomes.
- Use marking rubrics and assessment guidance effectively to maintain standardised judgement across all levels.
- Meet internal marking deadlines, ensuring timely turnaround of learner results.
- Participate in standardisation activities, including team moderation and cross‑marker discussions to maintain quality and consistency.
- Contribute to internal quality assurance processes, including sampling, audits, and responding to IQA feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of assessment decisions, following organisational and awarding body requirements.
- Stay up to date with CIPD assessment frameworks, HR best practice, and changes to qualification specifications.
- Identify and flag risks or concerns, such as academic integrity issues or incomplete evidence.
- Support a positive learner experience by ensuring clarity, transparency, and fairness in all assessment interactions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, providing insight to improve assessment design, consistency, and quality.
- Ensure CPD is kept up to date and maintain familiarity with BPP’s quality requirements.
- Be willing to participate in Ofsted inspections, supporting quality assurance and compliance activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to Level 5 CIPD or above.
- Industry relevant accreditations or certificates beneficial.
- Membership of a relevant professional body a huge plus.
- Significant practitioners experience relevant to the industry.
- Experience of working in an academic environment.
- Effective at planning, organising and prioritising workload.
- Experience of working autonomously and managing own workload efficiently and effectively.
