This is an exciting opportunity to complete part of your legal training in BPP's award-winning Social Impact Team, working in the Legal Advice Clinics (Consumer, Enterprise, Family, Housing, Welfare Rights). These are full-time fixed-term posts of 1 year duration.

It is a great time to join BPP as we have enjoyed a sustained period of growth, offering a wealth of opportunities to our staff, students and clients. There are many more great reasons to join BPP such as:

  • Brilliantly, you can study any of BPP’s courses for free – be it a professional qualification or full degree.
  • With hybrid working available, you’ll be able to split your time between one of our centres and wherever you choose to call home.
  • We also provide a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days, and there’s a rewards package that includes retail discounts, Group Personal Pension Plan, dedicated private healthcare and dental plans that offer additional assurance to look after you and your family.

The BPP Legal Advice Clinic (BLAC) is part of BPP’s Social Impact Team and has been in operation since March 2004. Its dual goals are to provide free legal advice to the community and to provide law students with the opportunity to obtain practical legal experience. In recent years, BLAC has undergone extensive expansion. In addition, we run a number of other pro bono projects.

This is an innovative and unique QWE post based in a pro bono service in the provision of law. The post holders will be based in either Birmingham, Leeds, London (Holborn) or Manchester but will be expected to travel to other BPP centres from time to time. The post includes evening work.

We are searching for enthusiastic people to join our team and under qualifying work experience and the administration of our legal advice clinics. You will have exposure to one of the areas of work set out above and will work with qualified solicitors. You will be expected to be a fully-operational member of BPP’s Social Impact Team and must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be confident in yourself and your advice (which we will, of course, help you to deliver). You would be part of a highly supportive and collaborative team and receive an immensely varied and interesting training.

What experience you’ll need:

  • All applicants must have studied BPP Law School now or in the past.
  • All applicants must have passed SQE1 or the LPC by the time of the start date.
  • All applicants must have experience of volunteering in the pro bono sector.
  • The successful applicant must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the post (unfortunately BPP is not able to sponsor applicants for work visas).

We will be carrying out Teams interviews from 3rd-5th March, please keep this date available. Preference for one of the posts will be given to a candidate who is from a low-income or less privileged background.
