Here at BPP (part of Lyceum Education Group) an opportunity has arisen for a Head of Internal Communications to join the team. This is a brand new position where you will be responsible for setting and delivering the Internal Communications strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing: This is an exciting new opportunity to join our business as the Head of Internal Communications. You will lead how we connect, inform and engage colleagues across BPP and the wider Lyceum Group. This is a senior, high-impact role for an experienced internal communications professional who can operate strategically and deliver at pace, turning business strategy, transformation priorities and the people agenda into clear, compelling communications that help colleagues understand where we are heading and the part they play.
Working within HR and partnering closely with the Executive and senior leadership teams, the role will set the direction for internal communications for a workforce of around 3,000 colleagues, primarily based in the UK and also in international locations including Australia and Canada. The role will strengthen engagement, support transformation and organisational change, improve leadership communication, and ensure colleagues feel informed, listened to and connected to BPP’s purpose, priorities and culture.
The successful candidate will combine strong strategic judgement with hands-on delivery, acting as a trusted adviser to leaders while building the channels, campaigns, rhythms and narratives that make communication more consistent, effective and measurable across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and deliver the internal communications strategy, ensuring colleagues understand the Group's purpose, strategy, performance, culture and transformation priorities.
- Build a clear organisation-wide narrative that brings strategy, change and business priorities to life in a way that is practical, engaging and relevant for colleagues.
- Act as a senior communications partner to HR, the Executive team and senior leaders, advising on messaging, tone, sequencing and engagement approach.
- Lead communications for employee engagement, culture, leadership visibility, organisational transformation, change programmes and key people priorities.
- Plan and deliver high-quality campaigns, events, colleague updates and communication moments across UK and international colleague audiences.
- Coach and equip leaders to communicate with clarity, confidence, empathy and credibility, particularly during periods of change or uncertainty.
- Own and evolve internal communication channels, including digital platforms, colleague updates and communication forums, ensuring they are well governed, easy to use and effective.
- Establish clear measures of success, using engagement insight, colleague feedback and channel analytics to demonstrate impact and inform continuous improvement.
- Strengthen colleague voice by ensuring feedback is listened to, understood and reflected in how the Group communicates and responds.
- Work across HR, leadership teams and wider functions to ensure messaging is coordinated, avoids duplication and gives colleagues a coherent view of priorities.
- Lead communications for key people processes including engagement surveys, reward and benefits, performance cycles, wellbeing, recognition and organisational change.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Substantial experience in a senior internal communications, colleague communications or employee engagement role, ideally within a complex, multi-site or matrix organisation.
- Proven track record of developing and delivering internal communications strategies that support business priorities, culture, transformation and colleague engagement.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex, sensitive or fast-moving information into clear and engaging communications.
- Confidence advising Executive and senior leadership stakeholders, with the judgement to influence, challenge and shape communication approach constructively.
- Experience leading communications across diverse colleague groups, including frontline, professional, hybrid, UK-based and international audiences.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and delivery skills, with the ability to manage a busy communications agenda and deliver high-quality work at pace.
- Strong understanding of employee engagement, colleague listening, change communications and the role of communications in shaping culture and trust.
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, including content creation, campaign planning, leadership briefing and channel management.
- High emotional intelligence, sound judgement and resilience, particularly when communicating through change, ambiguity or sensitive business issues.
- Experience managing or developing internal communication channels such as Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, newsletters, employee networks, events or equivalent colleague platforms would be advantageous.
