THE ROLE
As Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining robust health and safety systems across all BPM SFX operations. This is a hands‑on role that combines office‑based compliance with on‑site risk management at live events. You will work closely with project managers, technicians, clients, venues and local authorities to ensure all effects activity is delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and continuously improve BPM SFX’s Health, Safety and Risk management framework
• Produce and review risk assessments, method statements, COSHH and H&S documentation
• Manage and oversee on‑site risk assessments, safety briefings and compliance checks
• Act as the main H&S point of contact for clients, venues, production teams and local authorities
• Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation
• Retain H&S industry standards relating to live events, pyrotechnics and special effects
• Support accident, incident and near‑miss reporting, investigations and corrective actions
• Coordinate third‑party H&S providers and consultants where required
• Support training, competence and certification requirements for staff and contractors
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and audit trails across the business
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks
• Confidence operating in fast‑paced environments and making critical decisions under pressure
• Excellent communication, with the ability to engage technicians, productions and stakeholders
• Willing and able to travel regularly to sites, venues and events across the UK and internationally
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
• IOSH or IIRSM membership (or working towards)
• Thorough experience in H&S roles
• Experience producing specific H&S documentation for live shows, touring or special effects
• Knowledge of SFX, Lasers, or live production environments
