We are looking for a Team Member Cleaner at Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre.
Job Purpose
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across all dry‑side areas of the sports centre, including the gym, indoor cycling studio, and group fitness studios, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for all customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean and sanitise all gym equipment, including machines, free weights, benches, and mats.
- Maintain cleanliness of studio cycling rooms, including bikes, floors, mirrors, and touchpoints.
- Clean and prepare fitness class studios before and after sessions.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean mirrors, glass surfaces, walls, and fixtures.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including reception‑facing fitness spaces where applicable.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Refill cleaning and hygiene supplies (e.g. sanitiser stations, wipes).
- Follow strict hygiene protocols, ensuring all high‑touch areas are regularly disinfected.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in line with COSHH regulations.
- Identify and report hazards, maintenance issues, or damaged equipment.
- Ensure all cleaning is completed with minimal disruption to customers.
- Follow health and safety policies, including manual handling and infection control.
- Customer Experience
- Maintain a professional and friendly approach when interacting with customers.
- Be proactive in ensuring fitness areas are clean, presentable, and ready for use at all times.
- Respond politely to customer requests or queries and escalate where necessary.
- Support the overall positive image and reputation of the sports centre.
- Operational Duties
- Work to daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
- Complete cleaning checklists and records accurately.
- Support deep cleaning tasks during quieter periods or scheduled maintenance windows.
- Assist with setup and reset of studios where required.
