Lead electrical safety with confidence, credibility and fairness. At bpha, electrical safety isn't just a compliance requirement - it's a leadership responsibility. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Electrical Manager who can lead people fairly, stand up under pressure, and provide robust assurance across our electrical service. This is a senior role, acting as bpha's Principal Duty Holder for Electrical Safety, with real ownership, influence and accountability.
The role:
- You'll lead the electrical service both strategically and operationally, taking responsibility for statutory compliance, safety governance and service performance across our housing stock.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Comfortable being hands-on and visible, with strong previous electrical knowledge
- Confident coaching and developing managers, supervisors and operatives
- Calm and effective in pressurised environments, where safety and service can't slip
- Experienced working in construction, maintenance or the private sector - housing experience is welcome but not essential
You'll work closely with senior leaders, auditors and external bodies, providing clear, evidence-based assurance on electrical safety, risk and compliance.
What you'll bring:
- Leadership & people management: A fair, effective and confident people manager who sets clear expectations and tackles issues constructively. Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams, including challenging underperformance when needed. A strong coaching mindset - able to explain, guide and support others using your technical credibility.
- Technical & compliance expertise: Strong, hands-on electrical background, with the ability to understand work on site and support technical decision-making. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical legislation, regulations and British Standards. NICEIC experience, including confidently passing audits and maintaining compliance. Strong health & safety knowledge with real-world application.
- Assurance & resilience: Experience providing compliance, safety or performance assurance to senior stakeholders. Ability to remain effective under pressure, balancing safety, service delivery and operational demands. Experience acting as a Principal Duty Holder for Electrical Safety (desirable).
Background & sector:
- Management experience within construction, property maintenance, utilities or the private sector. Housing experience is not required - we're far more interested in strong leadership, safety knowledge and technical credibility.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering
- CSCS / SMSTS (or equivalent)
