Salary: 27,779.26. Working pattern: Hybrid - one day per week at Head Office in Bedford. Hours: 37 hours per week, worked between 8am and 6pm (for example, 9-5 or 8-4).

We are looking for a Finance Assistant (Rents) to join our Finance team at bpha, supporting the accurate setting, reviewing, and management of rents across our homes.

What you will be doing

  • Working closely with the Rent Accountant and wider teams, you will play a key role in making sure rents are set correctly, compliantly, and on time.
  • Supporting the annual rent review and helping ensure rents comply with the Regulator of Social Housing's Rent Standard.
  • Analysing rent data and setting rents for re-let properties across different tenure types.
  • Carrying out financial processing tasks, including checking rent debits, processing rent adjustments, and accounting for rental income.
  • Updating finance systems and ensuring rent and budget data is accurate.
  • Responding to rent-related queries from colleagues and customers, providing clear and helpful information.
  • Registering rental deposits with the Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS).
  • Using data and insight to identify inconsistencies and help improve processes.

What we are looking for

This role is ideal for someone who already has experience in a housing finance environment and wants to continue developing their skills.

Essential

  • Some experience in financial processing, such as working in an accounts or finance support role.
  • Experience working within a Housing Association or Local Authority.
  • A good understanding of different tenure types.
  • Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with data.
  • Good IT skills, including finance systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • A part accounting qualification or qualified by experience.
