bpe search are supporting a well-established and growing property services business on the South Coast as they look to appoint a Sales and Business Development Director to drive revenue growth across social housing and local authority customers. This senior appointment sits at the forefront of the business’s growth strategy, with a clear mandate to open doors, win work and build long-term public sector relationships.
Our client is a respected property services contractor, delivering residential works and programmes across domestic and residential buildings primarily for public-sector clients. With a strong operational platform, delivery capability and ambitious growth plans, the business is now looking to strengthen its commercial and business development leadership.
The Commercial Director will have full accountability for revenue and gross margin growth, with a core focus on social housing providers, local authorities and public-sector routes to market, including frameworks and DPS. This is a sales-led, externally focused role. Success will come through market engagement, relationship building, and the ability to consistently identify, pursue and secure property services contracts within the residential built environment.
Key responsibilities- Lead strategic business development across social housing and local authority customers
- Proactively open doors with senior decision-makers including asset directors, procurement leads, commercial and supply-chain teams
- Identify, shape and secure property services contracts across domestic and residential buildings
- Build and maintain a strong, visible sales pipeline, mapping upcoming opportunities and routes to market
- Develop and manage relationships with framework and DPS providers
- Represent the business at sector events, networking forums and client meetings
- Work closely with bid, operational and delivery teams to ensure compelling, commercially robust proposals
- Position the business as a trusted, high-quality partner within the property services and residential buildings sector
- Provide clear commercial insight, forecasting and reporting to the board
- Proven track record selling services into social housing and local authority customers (essential)
- Demonstrable success in new business development, door-opening and revenue growth roles
- Strong background within property services, construction, maintenance or residential building services
- Deep understanding of public-sector procurement, including frameworks and DPS
- Existing network of senior public-sector decision-makers
- Commercially astute, with experience securing high-value, multi-year services contracts
- Confident, credible and professional sales leader with gravitas at board and director level
- Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating closely with internal teams
