BPA operates a CNC machine shop producing high-precision aerospace tooling, and ground support equipment components and assemblies, to tight tolerances and strict quality standards.
We supply Leonardo Helicopters and GKN Aerospace — customers whose requirements leave no room for error.
You should have a good cross section of CNC Machining experience to include Milling, turning, programming (Siemens and Fanuc controls), and ideally grinding.
The role will involve prototype and small batch machining of parts and creating jigs and fixtures.
Any offline CAD/CAM experience will also be an advantage (Power Mill exp beneficial but can cross train).
You will perform inspection of parts and general basic upkeep of the machines.
Quality, consistency, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines (3-axis and above) to produce components from engineering drawings.
Work to tight tolerances and aerospace quality standards (AS9100 environment).
Carry out in-process inspection using standard metrology equipment (verniers, micrometers, CMM as appropriate).
Identify and report tooling wear, machine faults, and non-conformances promptly.
Contribute to 5S housekeeping and FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention.
Liaise with Works Manager and Quality on first-off approvals and concession requests.
Support programming and process improvement activities where capability exists.
Demonstrable experience setting, programming and operating CNC milling or turning centres (Fanuc, Heidenhain, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in operating 3, 4, and 5 axis machines
- Familiarity with CAD CAM systems
