We design, manufacture and install cranes, structural steelwork and lifting equipment. From our Leighton Buzzard workshop and at customer sites, we inspect, test, adjust and maintain the equipment that keeps businesses moving. We are a close-knit professional team where high standards matter, reliability is everything and good work gets noticed.

Are you at your best when you are building, fitting and solving practical problems? We are looking for an experienced Site Fitter / Crane Installation Engineer to help deliver crane, lifting equipment and structural steelwork installations at customer sites.

You will be involved from workshop preparation through to final installation, so you can see each job take shape and become operational. No two projects are exactly the same. This is a great opportunity for someone from a mechanical fitting, steelwork, crane installation or industrial engineering background who enjoys responsibility, teamwork and visible results.

Main Duties:

  • Install cranes, hoists and lifting equipment at customer sites.
  • Install and fit structural steelwork, including runway beams, columns and supporting structures.
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, drilling, bolting, assembly, positioning and alignment.
  • Work accurately from engineering drawings, method statements and site instructions.
  • Make practical modifications and adjustments when site conditions require them.
  • Use access equipment and work safely at height where required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with lifting operations, equipment positioning and the safe coordination of installation activities.
  • Check tools, components and installation materials before leaving for site.
  • Complete pre-use equipment checks and report defects or missing items promptly.
  • Support fabrication, welding preparation, assembly and equipment preparation in the workshop.
  • Prepare cranes, lifting equipment and steelwork for upcoming installations.
  • Maintain tidy, organised and safe work areas in the workshop and at customer premises.
  • Complete site records, job sheets, equipment checks and other required documentation.
  • Communicate progress, technical issues and additional work requirements clearly to the team.
  • Represent Bramley Engineering professionally and respectfully at customer sites.
  • Work closely with engineers, workshop colleagues, subcontractors and the office team.

What We're Looking For:

You will be a capable, mechanically minded problem-solver who enjoys practical work and is comfortable in an active site environment. Experience in crane installation, structural steelwork, mechanical fitting, steel fabrication, industrial installation, maintenance or lifting equipment would give you a strong foundation.

  • Confident using hand and power tools, measuring equipment and general fitting tools.
  • The ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings is desirable.
  • Comfortable working at height and using access equipment following suitable training.
  • Able to solve problems, adapt to changing site conditions and use sound practical judgement.
  • Reliable, quality-focused and willing to contribute as part of a small team.
  • Happy to travel to customer sites and work flexibly when installations require, and there may be occasions of overnight travel and stay.
  • Professional with customers and committed to safe systems of work and site procedures.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, welding qualifications, slinging/signalling experience or previous lifting equipment experience would be advantageous. Training can be provided where appropriate.

What We Offer:

  • A secure, permanent position with competitive pay that reflects your experience.
  • Overtime opportunities and genuine variety across customer sites and our workshop.
  • Training and ongoing development to broaden your engineering and lifting-equipment skills.
  • The chance to take ownership, solve real installation challenges and see the results of your work.
  • A respected, established business with a strong customer base and supportive close-knit team.
  • A role where your contribution is visible, valued and important to every successful installation.

Ready for a role with more variety, responsibility and visible results? If you have experience in mechanical fitting, structural steelwork, crane installation or a similar hands-on engineering environment, send us your CV and a brief summary of your relevant experience.
