With around 180 dedicated professionals across the UK, we play a vital role in “Keeping the UK Moving 24/7/365” by operating a range of onshore pipeline, terminal and storage assets, alongside delivering trusted engineering consultancy services worldwide.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across electrical engineering scopes within BPA’s pipeline, terminal, and storage infrastructure. You will play a key role in defining, reviewing and delivering electrical solutions for both projects and operating assets, with a strong focus on brownfield environments, where operational constraints, safety, and system reliability are critical.
Working closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will support delivery from early concept through to commissioning, ensuring electrical designs are safe, compliant, and practical to implement within live operating sites.
Electrical Engineering & Technical Assurance- Define electrical scopes, problem statements, and technical inputs for project development and approvals
- Lead or review key electrical deliverables such as SLDs, load assessments, protection studies, cable sizing, and earthing design
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, hazardous area requirements, and BPA procedures
- Provide technical assurance and input into design reviews across the project lifecycle
- Support the delivery of electrical elements of projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Contribute to shutdown planning, energisation activities, and integration with live systems
- Work closely with asset teams to support fault finding, reliability improvement, and obsolescence management
- Assess and manage constraints associated with live operational sites, including outages, tie-ins, and temporary supplies
- Act as the electrical focal point within multidisciplinary teams
- Review contractor and vendor designs, ensuring quality and compliance
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and delivery teams
Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Strong experience delivering electrical engineering solutions in high-hazard environments (e.g. oil & gas, terminals, pipelines, or similar)
Working knowledge of LV systems, MCCs, motors, VSDs, transformers, and hazardous area installations
Experience reviewing contractor and vendor design deliverables
Strong technical judgement and ability to manage engineering risk
Basic salary of £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
