What’s the Job About? You will join BPA’s Operations Team and provide field-based technical support to ensure the safe, effective and compliant operation of cathodic protection (CP) and corrosion control systems across pipelines, terminals and high-hazard sites. Acting as the team’s on‑site CP focal point, you will carry out routine monitoring, inspections and surveys, troubleshoot system issues and maintain CP equipment in accordance with BPA procedures and engineering standards. Working closely with the Integrity Team, contractors, landowners and operational teams, you will manage day‑to‑day CP activities, resolve technical problems and maintain accurate records. Through sound engineering judgement and effective coordination of work, you will help protect asset integrity, support project delivery and uphold BPA’s safety and performance standards. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Carry out routine monitoring, inspection and testing of cathodic protection (CP) systems across BPA’s pipelines, terminals and high-hazard sites, ensuring all activities comply with BPA procedures and engineering standards.
  • Manage day‑to‑day CP operations including data collection, validating survey results, updating CP databases and CMMS records, and supporting timely completion of routine monitoring schedules.
  • Act as BPA’s on‑site CP focal point, liaising with landowners, contractors, operations teams and engineering colleagues to ensure clear communication of requirements and safe execution of field activities.
  • Work closely with the Integrity Team to support resolving technical issues, improving CP system performance and supporting planning for project and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate technical records, drawings and reports to support asset integrity, regulatory compliance and project documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve, streamline processes and support the roll‑out of improved procedures and practices.

What You’ll Need:

  • Ability to work independently with strong self‑motivation.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills and expertise.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, walking pipeline routes to complete surveys and carrying out light maintenance.
  • Experience in cathodic protection surveys is advantageous (training provided).
  • Full UK driving licence, with the ability to travel across the UK including occasional overnight stays.
  • Experience in pipeline or similar industries is advantageous.
  • Experience with field testing and troubleshooting is advantageous (training provided).
  • Ability to prepare, interpret and update drawings, maps, procedures and technical reports with accuracy.
  • Clear communication skills and strong organisation, with the ability to work independently across multiple sites while applying sound engineering judgement in a practical field environment.

Salary: Basic salary of £29,000 – £33,000 + overtime.

This is a field-based position travelling the South Region. You will need a full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
