We are seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to join our organisation and play a key role in setting standards and strategy for maintaining Critical National Infrastructure. This role sits within BPA’s Integrity Management Team and will work with a diverse range of asset types across our national network. The focus of this role is health monitoring and the reliability of above‑ground assets such as rotating equipment, valves, and electrical systems and would suit someone from an FMG or manufacturing background.
You will take ownership of asset health monitoring and reliability performance, leading root cause investigations and delivering data‑driven solutions that directly improve asset availability, cost efficiency, and operational performance. This role is well suited to someone with experience working in a multi‑disciplinary engineering environment, with strong asset management knowledge and hands‑on experience in CMMS/EAM system development. You will enjoy a broad range of challenges, problem‑solving opportunities, and the ability to influence strategy for assets critical to the UK.
- Lead reliability risk assessments using methodologies such as FMEA, FMECA and Root Cause Analysis.
- Lead asset health and condition monitoring strategies, defining key asset health indicators.
- Analyse reliability, performance and failure data to identify trends and provide evidence‑based recommendations for improving reliability and availability.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance and project teams to embed reliability best practices.
- Integrate design‑for‑reliability principles into new assets, modifications, specifications and procurement.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to improve asset availability, data quality and operational performance across BPA’s network.
Degree‑qualified Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, or related discipline). Experienced in reliability engineering or a closely related field within an asset‑intensive industry. Experience using and developing CMMS systems for maintenance planning, asset history and performance reporting. Ability to analyse complex data and translate findings into practical, actionable improvements.
