BP Rolls Newport is a growing and forward‑thinking commercial vehicle repair business, and we are looking to recruit an experienced Vehicle Paint Shop Foreman to lead our Commercial paint department. We work with National home shopping Fleets with high profile, high quality branding requirements. This role is ideal for a skilled commercial paint professional who is a natural leader, ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in driving team performance, quality standards, and productivity within a busy workshop environment.

About the Role

As Paint Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the paint department while remaining hands‑on and productive. This is a working foreman position, where you will lead by example, balancing your own paint jobs alongside time given to support the team, leading to maximised quality workmanship and productivity for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities within the paint shop.
  • Carry out preparation and paintwork on commercial vehicles to a high standard.
  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of paint technicians – time given to allow for this.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently and meets quality expectations.
  • Monitor productivity, workflow, and job turnaround times.
  • Allocate work effectively to maximise efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Liaise with workshop management and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify training needs and actively support the development and progression of team members.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle paint (HGV/LCV experience preferred).
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience, or readiness to step into a working foreman role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of paint processes, preparation, and finishing.
  • Ability to balance hands‑on work with team leadership responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and productivity.
