Our Newport depot supports major Commercial fleet operators of the Home shopping sector across Wales and the South West of England, delivering high-quality trailer, fleet, and accident repair services with minimal vehicle downtime.

On Target Earnings £60-70K per year. Monday- Friday 45 hours p/w

Our Newport depot supports major Commercial fleet operators across the Home shopping sector within Wales and the South West of England, delivering high-quality trailer, fleet, and accident repair services with minimal vehicle downtime.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an additional experienced and highly capable HGV Trailer Technician to join our skilled workshop team in Newport.

The Role

This is a hands-on role suited to a technician with solid previous experience gained working on commercial trailers and HGV equipment.

You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, inspections, servicing, and ensuring trailers are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards.

You will work within a dynamic, commercial environment where quality workmanship, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGV trailers
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural faults
  • Perform inspections in line with DVSA and manufacturer standards
  • Repair trailer braking systems, suspensions, axles, lighting, ABS/EBS systems, and air systems
  • Undertake welding, fabrication, and body repairs where required
  • Complete job cards and inspection paperwork accurately
  • Work effectively to minimise vehicle off-road time (VOR)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
  • Ensure all work is completed to health & safety and compliance standards

Requirements

  • Proven previous experience as an HGV Trailer Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • Strong working knowledge of trailer systems and diagnostics
  • Experience with servicing and repairs on a variety of commercial trailers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence
