Role Overview

Vista is the business-led innovation team within bp's Supply Trading & Shipping organization. Our mission is to help future-proof the business by exploring how technology can solve legacy challenges, unlock new commercial advantages, and reshape how we operate in a constantly evolving landscape. We focus on three core questions: As a global, agile, and impact-driven team, Vista identifies and leverages innovative technologies, business models, and ecosystem partnerships to address high-value commercial opportunities. We are now seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Product Manager to lead digital product delivery across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product delivery across multiple innovation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, commercial drivers, constraints, and timelines.
  • Develop digital products, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), Proofs of Value (PoVs), and MVPs.
  • Shape commercial cases and translate ambiguous ideas into clear, validated business requirements.
  • Assemble and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Map current and future-state business processes in a clear, accessible way for non-technical audiences.
  • Define user journeys and personas to guide product design and delivery.
  • Research and evaluate digital solutions—internal or external—agnostic to build, buy, or partner decisions.
  • Be responsible for the product roadmap, prioritise features, handle the backlog, and pivot quickly when needed.
  • Navigate a fast-moving, complex matrix organization to drive progress and remove blockers.
  • Champion Agile methodologies and facilitate appropriate ceremonies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and data.
  • Provide clear, frequent updates to business and functional stakeholders.
  • Indirectly lead engineering squads, ensuring delivery clarity and timely escalation of challenges.
  • Plan, coordinate, and run user testing and feedback sessions, including test plans and success criteria.
  • Assess delivery outcomes objectively and recommend enhancements, pivots, or terminations.
  • Monitor external trends in commodity trading and technology innovation.
  • Mentor junior Product Managers and support their development in product management procedures.
  • Build strong internal networks across Supply, Trading & Shipping, and the Technology function.

Essential Education

  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, or an equivalent (advanced degree preferred).
  • Product Management qualifications (e.g., CPM, CSPO, PSPO) or equivalent experience.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Consistent record to turn ambiguous business ideas into structured experimentation opportunities and scalable products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft Epics, Features, User Stories, UAT requirements, and stakeholder updates.
  • Proficiency with product management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) and solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience delivering AI-enabled products and solid understanding of AI technologies, including Generative AI.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to link business needs to roadmap priorities and identify high-impact requirements.
  • Curiosity and passion for technology and innovation, with awareness of developments in commodity trading, shipping, and adjacent industries.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects across time zones.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to adapt communication styles for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a globally distributed team (US, UK, Singapore).
  • Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate competitive and innovation insights into opportunities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in commodity trading, fuels supply, or shipping.
  • Experience working in a start-up or innovation-focused environment.
