The Procurement Category Manager provides category leadership for key sub-categories of spend in support of their global category. They undertake category management and global supplier relationship management, driving end-to-end spend management to mitigate supply chain risk and improve value delivery, including sustainability, within their category. They do this through collaborating across and beyond procurement, including with regional, business, Source-to-contract and Order Management resources.
They know their categories intimately and support development of innovative strategies which deliver business objectives and strong category guidance which ensures efficient end to end category execution. They work with regional, Source-to-contract and Order Management resources for efficient, compliant, and driven procurement outcomes, collaborating across and beyond procurement.
Problem solvers with good commercial acumen, they create solutions to category challenges, cultivate senior partner relationships and work with businesses to understand their evolving needs alongside developing deep insights into supply markets, including disruptors and technological advances. They create value through orchestrating development of transformational strategies in support of BP’s strategy, collaborating cross-functionally to realize identified value and working with delivery teams to ensure that their global strategies are driven locally.
The Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) Category hosts the highest transactional volume in all of BP. The existing Category Strategy therefore has a strong focus on deploying digital solutions to drive end-to-end effectiveness, whilst establishing strong data foundations for an AI enabled future. As the Category Manager you will be responsible for overseeing category performance, whilst driving digital transformation in the category. The Category Manager will work with the Refineries and Production regions as well as Materials Management to drive improved efficiency and execution. The role will interface with the Category Delivery teams and the Source to Contract teams who execute activity on a day to day basis. This also includes the global deployment of solutions such as Axiom, Sirion and Fairmarket, as well as optimizing ways of working in existing systems e.g. SAP and Salesforce.
With the existing Category Strategy due for revalidation in 2027, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to incorporate learnings and lead the development and mobilization of a refreshed strategy for 2028-2033.
