Join Castrol's Global Marine & Energy Technology team and play a key role in developing and deploying advanced lubricant technologies for customers, OEMs and industry partners worldwide. We're looking for a marine engineering professional who can combine technical expertise with a strong understanding of marine operations to deliver practical solutions and support innovation across the marine and energy sectors.
Working closely with global colleagues, OEMs, suppliers, customers and industry peers, you'll contribute to strategic technology programmes, emerging industry trends and the future development of marine and energy solutions, while benefiting from extensive opportunities for learning, growth and professional development.
This is a role within the Castrol organisation and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. If you are part of the ring-fence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead or contribute to technology programmes focused on developing new products and optimising existing lubricant technologies to meet customer, industry and OEM requirements globally.
- Manage projects from planning through execution, delivering against timelines, objectives and budgets of up to $5 million.
- Build strong relationships across Technology, Research & Innovation, Product Stewardship, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Sales and wider bp businesses.
- Collaborate with OEMs, customers, distributors, suppliers, testing laboratories, industry organisations and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain and develop strategic relationships with OEMs, licensees and customers, supporting both current projects and future technology opportunities.
- Provide technical expertise, support and innovations to Castrol's global technical network and customer base.
- Conduct technical assessments and support vessel, engine and equipment-related investigations where required.
- Find opportunities in emerging areas such as future marine fuels, sustainability, low-carbon shipping and digital technologies.
- Deliver technical training, presentations and knowledge-sharing activities across the wider organisation.
What we're looking for:
- Strong HSE attitude.
- Experience within the marine industry, ideally as a Chief Engineer, Marine Superintendent, vessel inspection specialist or similar marine technical roles; or strong engineering knowledge and hands-on technical experience.
- Experience performing ship inspections, engine inspections or providing technical support to customers in marine, lubes, fuels or relevant industries would be advantageous.
- Experience working in an international or global business environment.
- Strong partner management and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across multiple cultures and regions, with customers, ship crews and technical partners.
- Ability to travel and fit in with ship and engine room working practices and requirements.
- Fluency in English. Additional language skills would be advantageous.
Education & qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering and/or science subject area.
- A Marine Engineering First Class Certificate of Competency (CoC) would be advantageous.
