This role collaborates closely with business leaders and stakeholders, the Pulse product team, enterprise architects, finance, third-party partners, and the broader technology organization. Working across these groups, the Principal Delivery Manager fosters alignment between technical delivery and strategic business objectives, ensuring that products and platforms are developed efficiently and meet the needs of both customers and the business.

Serving millions of customers at over 20,000 fuel sites and convenience stores worldwide, and a rapidly expanding network of electric vehicle charging points, our Technology team collaborates with global EV businesses to deliver products that enhance customer experience and drive business value.
As Principal Delivery Manager for CPO, overseeing the end-to-end technology ecosystem that supports the deployment, operation and optimisation of EV charging infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of all systems and data flows that enable seamless charging experience for customers and operational efficiency for the business.
Key responsibilities include managing the Charge Point Management System (CPMS), ensuring full lifecycle support of charging assets, and overseeing interoperability frameworks such as OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), and OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface). You act as the technical owner of platform integrations ensuring charging stations, backend services, roaming partners, and customer facing applications work cohesively. You also own the data architecture for EV charging operations including enabling real time monitoring, predictive maintenance, performance analytic, billing accuracy and regulatory reporting through well structured and reliable data systems.
Working closely with operations, product, engineering and external partners, you drive continuous improvement across the technology stack evaluates emerging standards in the EV charging domain and leads the implementation of scalable solutions that support network growth.
What you will deliver
- Engineering Leadership: Establish and sustain a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation, excellence, collaboration, and customer satisfaction. Champion best practices and methodologies for software development, testing, deployment, and operations. Lead the design of impactful software and services, author strategic design documents, and incorporate peer feedback. Operate and maintain high performing products and platforms and lead the adoption and continuous improvement of DevOps practices, fostering a culture of automation, collaboration, and operational excellence across engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure delivery of technology solutions.
- Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership for engineering teams, ensuring successful delivery of software and services. Mentor and develop team members, share expertise, and inspire engineers to achieve project objectives. Partner with product management, data science, and UX design to drive results.
- Vendor Management: Work closely with partner teams to enhance system reusability and resilience. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including vendors and industry peers.
- Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure software solutions comply with regulatory, security, and quality standards. Support audit processes by preparing documentation and evidence. Collaborate to implement controls addressing compliance gaps and monitor regulatory developments.
- Performance Management: Oversee budget planning and resource allocation to align with business objectives. Monitor financial performance, control costs, and provide accurate reporting to support decision-making and optimize resource utilization.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
- Significant experience working across complex, globally dispersed businesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
- Expert in problem-solving, with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop creative and effective solutions.
- Self-starter, able to handle ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, identify risks, and find the right people and tools to get the job done.
- Expert in adapting to new technologies and processes, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellence in balancing strategic priorities with tactical execution, with solid attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and influence skills, with the ability to engage with a broad range of collaborators and prioritize demands.
- Demonstrable experience in software development, with a focus on platform or service engineering with expertise in at least one programming language and developing cross-platform solutions.
- Expert in software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operations.
- Expert in designing and building complex software systems end-to-end which have been optimally delivered and operated in production.
- You should understand security and privacy best practices as well as how to properly monitor, log, and alarm production systems.
- Employ empathy and curiosity to build the best possible experiences for the users of your products and focus on delighting customers with amazing user experiences and customer service.
