About the Role

We are looking for a Light Ends Paper Trader to join our GLIGHTS team. This is a fast-paced and high-impact role focused on executing trades, managing risk exposure, and finding opportunities to capture value across light ends markets. You will play a key role in supporting trading activity across gasoline and related products while contributing to broader market strategy and portfolio performance.

About GLIGHTS

GLIGHTS is ST&S’s global light ends trading business and one of our fastest-growing teams. We operate a global trading model across:

  • Gasoline
  • LPG
  • Naphtha
  • Petrochemicals
  • Low-carbon and circular products

Our teams are based in London, Singapore, Chicago, Houston and São Paulo, working together to drive growth in a highly dynamic market environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Trading & Strategy
    • Develop and execute well-reasoned trading strategies based on market fundamentals
    • Contribute to regional gasoline market views and trading ideas
    • Support the growth and long-term strategy of the trading book
    • Stress test and refine trading positions to optimise risk and returns
  • Execution & Trade Management
    • Execute derivatives trades (futures, swaps, options) accurately and on time
    • Manage orders across platforms and broker channels
    • Monitor market activity to achieve best execution outcomes
    • Track trades, allocations and ensure accurate system capture
  • Market Insight
    • Monitor real-time market activity, including liquidity and price movements
    • Share clear and timely market insights with traders
    • Identify pricing dislocations, unusual activity or shifts in market dynamics
  • Risk & Control
    • Operate within risk limits, mandates and governance frameworks
    • Maintain awareness of position exposure during execution
    • Identify and raise issues promptly
    • Support post-trade validation, reconciliation and P&L alignment
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to enhancing processes, tools and controls
    • Maintain strong documentation standards and audit readiness

  • Technical & Commercial
    • Experience trading or executing in derivatives markets (ideally light ends or related products)
    • Strong understanding of supply and demand fundamentals in energy markets
    • Ability to translate market insights into clear positioning decisions
    • High level of numerical accuracy and comfort working with real-time data
    • Familiarity with trading systems, execution platforms and Excel
    • Awareness of market behaviour and participant dynamics
