We have an excellent opportunity for a Compliance Manager to lead our regulatory reporting operations oversight, change programme and controls framework in the wholesale energy market and financial regulations space. As a license to operate function, we play a meaningful role in keeping bp ST&S safe and aligned with multi-jurisdictional regulatory obligations.
The preferred candidate must possess robust leadership capability, excellent work ethics and show clear passion for compliance, reporting assurance and controls. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of the wholesale energy markets and financial regulations in one or more jurisdictions (EMIR, REMIT, MiFID II, MAS and/or ASIC), possess strong change management expertise and experience of leading projects or teams.
In this role, you will provide regulatory reporting advice to our trading and supply business, while building positive relationships with senior business and functional stakeholders. In leading our reporting operations oversight, you will work alongside the Senior Compliance Manager, Compliance Managers and Regulatory Reporting Specialists across location hubs in London, Poland and India.
What does the day-to-day look like? In more detail, you will have the exciting opportunity to:
- Own the day-to-day compliance oversight and assurance of our reporting obligations, systems, processes and controls, including reporting compliance targets. This includes REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, MAS and ASIC regulations.
- Own the delivery of regulatory change projects in the wholesale energy market and extending to other financial regulations.
- Identify, assess and supervise regulatory reporting risks and requirements applicable to the business, assisting with planning and implementing any vital solution and process changes as these evolve.
- Provide clear, accurate and concise functional assurance to the business to support bp ST&S growth.
- Be an active participant in industry working groups and lead our horizon scanning efforts on new and ongoing regulatory developments. Document and share impact assessment with key customers.
- Develop strategic relationships with senior stakeholders and establish the regulatory reporting team as a key enabler and partner.
- Deliver regulatory reporting training to traders, commercial teams and other functional partners.
- Establish regulatory reporting protocols and optimise our controls with new technologies to drive efficiencies.
- Review and identify areas of standardisation and simplification across the team to improve efficiency and collaboration within the EU Regulatory Reporting team.
- Call out strategic reporting risks to Senior Compliance Manager to ensure safe operations across team.
About you: You will have solid understanding of commodity trading and products in the financial and wholesale energy market. You are a people leader and problem solver, with the ability to lead and work with a diverse team. This role requires a high degree of leadership and communication skills with a clear passion and care for regulatory compliance, and the ability to take the lead on priorities and deliver under pressure.
You will ideally have experience of delivering compliance change programmes, and regulatory reporting projects in one or more reporting jurisdictions. You will be comfortable challenging the norm to raise standards, have the courage to recommend industry best practices, and promote reporting efficiencies.
As a leader, you must be able to speak up, you have confidence to present to senior leadership, escalate risks in a timely manner and embed a strong compliance mindset across the team. You must have a demonstrable track record of upskilling others and sharing knowledge with colleagues and peers.
