Role overview
We are seeking a motivated Youth Worker to help coordinate and deliver regional youth projects, training and events. You will design programmes, promote youth participation, signpost services, develop digital engagement, and nurture a cohort of young peace champions. You will also support monitoring, reporting, fundraising contributions and the delivery of the BGC Strategic Plan 2025–2030.
Key responsibilities
- Design, deliver and coordinate youth activities, training and events (local & regional)
- Promote youth participation and empowerment, including digital engagement and social media
- Create programmes that promote positive community relations and emotional wellbeing
- Provide signposting/support on employability, drugs & alcohol, mental health and other youth issues
- Identify, train and mentor young 'peace champions'
- Collaborate with partners and other youth workers to enhance project delivery
- Maintain accurate administrative, monitoring & evaluation records; report on contracted outcomes
- Contribute to funding applications, income generation and sponsorship activity
- Ensure compliance with organisational policy, legislation and best practice
- Occasional evenings/weekends and travel across NI
Person specification (shortlisting criteria)
Education/Experience
- Recognised qualification in community/youth work OR minimum 3 years’ paid youth work experience
- At least 2 years’ experience coordinating youth work activities at local/regional level
- At least 2 years’ experience designing/delivering youth programmes and reporting to contracted outcomes
Skills & attributes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital platforms
- Experience implementing monitoring & evaluation and producing timely reports
- Excellent organisation, time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong facilitation, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Team player, motivated to strengthen youth work infrastructure across NI
- Ability to travel across Northern Ireland; flexibility for occasional evenings/weekends
