We are looking for an experienced and proactive Business Analyst to join us. This is a key role focused on improving the Firm’s legal and business processes through technology and structured analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with our externally managed IT department and senior stakeholders across the Firm to identify issues, define requirements, and support the delivery of practical, technology-enabled solutions. This role suits someone analytical, confident, and commercially minded, with strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously. The Business Analyst will be the Firm’s primary business-facing resource for process review, technology adoption, and continuous improvement. This position is based in our Reading office, with hybrid working available.

Experience/Attributes required:

  • Essential
    • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within a professional services or similarly complex environment.
    • Strong experience delivering technology-enabled process improvements.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload without close supervision.
    • Experience working with outsourced or external IT teams.
    • Confident working with senior stakeholders, including at Partner level.
    • Strong process mapping, analysis and documentation skills.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
    • Experience managing suppliers and monitoring delivery against SLAs.
  • Desirable
    • Experience working in a law firm or regulated professional services environment.
    • Familiarity with legal technology platforms.
    • Exposure to AI or automation tools.
    • Project management experience or a relevant qualification.
    • Knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection in a technology context.

Work type: Business Process Analysis

  • Lead reviews of legal and administrative processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather and document requirements through interviews, workshops and observation.
  • Produce clear process maps, workflows and business requirements that inform solution design.
  • Evaluate the impact of implemented changes and report progress to senior stakeholders.

Technology and Systems

  • Act as the main liaison between the Firm and external IT teams, ensuring technology solutions meet business needs.
  • Assess proposed tools and systems, including practice management, document management, workflow automation and AI solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories.
  • Keep up to date with legal technology trends and provide informed recommendations.

Stakeholder and Supplier Management

  • Build strong working relationships with Partners, Heads of Department and operational teams.
  • Manage external suppliers, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines and service levels.
  • Prepare clear briefings, business cases and options appraisals for senior audiences.

Project and Change Delivery

  • Support technology and process improvement projects from initial scoping through to post-implementation review.
  • Maintain project documentation including requirements logs, RAID logs, test scripts and training materials.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and ensure issues are resolved ahead of go live.
  • Support communication and change management activity.

Governance and Documentation

  • Ensure all analysis and project documentation is accurate and maintained within the Firm’s document management system.
  • Contribute to the Firm’s technology roadmap and improvement register.
  • Support technology evaluation, vendor due diligence and relevant risk assessments.
