Senior Associate Solicitor – Court of Protection Team
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate Solicitor ready to take the next step in their career, joining a successful and well-regarded Court of Protection team ranked in both Chambers and The Legal 500.
The successful candidate will take a leadership role in managing the team and will contribute to shaping its future direction alongside existing partners.
They will act as a director of the firm’s trust corporation, as well as a professional deputy and/or trustee. They will manage their own client relationships, act as decision-maker, and be supported by other members of the team. The role includes attending annual review meetings, investment meetings, and site/adaptation visits across England and Wales.
A key aspect of the role will also be to mentor, coach and support the development of junior team members.
We operate a hybrid working model. For this role, we anticipate a minimum of two days per week in our Reading office.
Experience / Attributes Required
- Significant experience managing high-value Court of Protection matters, particularly for clients with substantial compensation awards, working closely with our Clinical Negligence team
- Confident in making complex best interests decisions involving property, financial affairs, and health and welfare
- Support and develop junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and knowledgeable department
- Proactive in business development, building strong relationships with clients and professional referrers
- Experience preparing expert reports on costs is desirable but not essential
- Familiar with deputyship and trust matters, including budget planning
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and working with multidisciplinary teams, including case managers and care providers

- Take a leading role in marketing and promoting the team, including attending and supporting practice development events and cross-selling
- Lead the management of complex Court of Protection cases, both during litigation and post-settlement, ensuring a seamless transition and long-term client support
- Oversee the preparation and submission of Statutory Will applications
