We are currently looking for an organised and motivated Paralegal to join our reputable and growing Residential Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and ambitious team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team’s continued success by assisting with residential conveyancing matters and helping to maintain the department’s excellent reputation for client service. You will be joining a friendly and collaborative team of 6 fee earners and 5 paralegal/support staff who work closely together to deliver a high-quality service. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience, take on meaningful responsibility, and grow within a well-established and expanding department.

Experience/Attributes required:

  • Experience working within a legal environment, ideally within residential conveyancing or a similar area.
  • Able to work independently on allotted tasks, taking ownership and ensuring they are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Capable of recognising and complying with deadlines, effectively prioritising time-critical tasks and managing competing demands.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently and professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Works effectively both as part of a team and on their own initiative, showing flexibility and a proactive approach to work.
  • Displays effective time management skills, planning and organising their workload to meet deadlines.
  • Confident using computers, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, building positive relationships and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Work type:

  • Managing residential property files with minimal supervision, particularly from exchange of contracts through to completion.
  • Handling post-completion matters, including preparing and submitting Land Registry applications.
  • Closing and archiving completed files in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Ordering and reviewing conveyancing searches (e.g. local authority, drainage, environmental).
  • Managing key dates and deadlines using internal diary systems.
  • Completing and submitting relevant legal forms, including Land Registry applications and SDLT returns.
  • Preparing and issuing fee notes and invoices to clients.
  • Scanning, photocopying, and faxing documents as needed to support file management.
  • Compiling and organising contract packs and other transaction documents.
  • Drafting and generating bills and ensuring they are sent promptly.
  • Monitoring accounts and liaising with the accounts department to track payments and balances.
  • Acting as the initial point of contact for client phone calls, taking messages or providing updates where appropriate.
