The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Construction Solicitor to join a forward-thinking and supportive team based in Reading and to help grow the firm’s non-contentious construction services.

The ideal candidate will have at least four years’ experience in non-contentious construction work. You will be confident, organised, proactive and, most importantly, a strong team player. You will also be expected to contribute to business development activities, so proven experience in managing client relationships is essential. Experience gained within an established construction practice is required.

Although the role is primarily non-contentious, it will involve some contentious work, so prior experience in contentious matters is necessary.

Experience/Attributes required:
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience of non-contentious construction work.
  • Excellent knowledge of all major standard form contracts, particularly JCT, NEC, FIDIC and experience of drafting and negotiating bespoke amendments.
  • Experience of reviewing and advising on consultant’s appointments (both standard form and bespoke), collateral warranties and deeds of novation.
  • Ability to draft and review development agreements, parent company guarantees and performance bonds.
  • Experience of power projects (traditional and renewable).
  • Knowledge of UK procurement and Health and Safety legislation, and insurance requirements as applicable to construction.
  • Experience with business development activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively as part of a team as well as working unsupervised.

  • Building and growing the firm’s non-contentious construction practice, providing support to the firm’s property, commercial and corporate teams.
  • Working in conjunction with other teams within the firm to target new opportunities.
