CNC Technician

Job Summary

The CNC Technician is a critical member of Boyd Allenton’s manufacturing operations team. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support to our CNC machining department.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Develops CNC programs as required.
• Completes setup of all CNC jobs with required fixtures and tooling.
• Trains employees to set up and program CNC machines.
• Orders perishable tooling for the CNC machines.
• Approves CNC machine setups.
• Documents specific setups and processes as necessary.
• Attends any required Technical Team meetings.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Supports and follows all QMS requirements.
• Observes all Boyd safety guidelines and OSHA procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
• Substantial understanding and knowledge of CNC programming.
• Previous manufacturing experience is required.
• Proficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and use of a PC.

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Knowledge of machining practices.
• Basic reasoning skills and language skills (ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business paperwork).
• Ability to effectively work alongside, present information, and respond to questions/requests from managers, peers, customers, and the general public.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining company quality standards at all times.
• Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work based on business needs.
• Possess analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to complete shop paperwork.
• Must be able to follow directions and work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or touch tools, equipment, and/or controls.
• Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities are required for this position, including close and distance vision, color, and peripheral vision, and ability to focus.

Our Allenton location offers high-pressure aluminum die-cast products. Die-casting is a versatile process for producing metal parts by forcing molten metal under pressure into steel molds or dies.
