The Production Supervisor is responsible for the production of finished goods within standard cost while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role controls quality and work flow in the plant, follows production schedules, tracks shortfalls, manages personnel, equipment, and materials, ensures compliance with HR policies, and promotes a positive work environment.
Job Description:
- Oversee all production for the assigned shift and directly supervise assemblers, leads, and technicians.
- Apply and enforce HR policies and practices consistently across the shop floor.
- Manage manpower utilization to meet established standards and continuously improve standard costs.
- Coordinate production operations to ensure proper workflow through the plant.
- Identify scrap reduction opportunities and collaborate with the Operations Manager on improvement efforts.
- Control the manufacturing process to meet approved methods and quality standards, ensuring units stay within standard costs.
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure smooth transition of new products.
- Develop and train subordinates to enhance performance and skills.
- Conduct weekly informational meetings with production staff on continuous improvement, schedules, safety, and quality.
- Set production goals for individual operations and products to continuously improve standard cost.
- Ensure safe operations on the shift, removing unsafe methods and conditions.
- Maintain discipline while fostering a supportive work environment.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Preferred: 2–4 years of production planning experience.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is an asset.
