Freelance Project Manager – Structural Steel
Location: Lockerbie
Contract: Freelance / Project-Based
Boyd Recruitment are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager with a strong structural steel background to lead the delivery of a project in Lockerbie. This is a hands-on role suited to a Project Manager who understands the full lifecycle of steelwork projects—from design coordination and procurement through to fabrication, erection, and handover.
The Role:
- Full responsibility for the planning and delivery of the project
- Managing programme, budget, and quality
- Coordinating with clients, designers, subcontractors, and site teams
- Overseeing structural steelwork packages, including fabrication and erection
- Managing health & safety, site progress, and commercial reporting
- Driving the project to practical completion on time and within budget
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager on structural steel projects
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Confident managing site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- SMSTS / CSCS (or equivalent) preferred
- Able to work autonomously and take full ownership of the project
