This is a key strategic appointment, offering the opportunity to influence health & safety culture at the highest level within a well-established and forward-thinking organisation.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership and operating at board level, you will take full responsibility for driving the health & safety strategy across multiple civil engineering and construction projects throughout the region. This is not just a compliance role — it is a leadership position requiring strategic vision, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence operational teams and directors alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the regional H&S strategy in line with business objectives
  • Advise the board on all matters relating to health, safety, and compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with current UK H&S legislation and anticipate future legislative changes
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a proactive safety culture
  • Oversee audits, investigations, reporting, and risk management processes
  • Support operational teams across multiple live civil engineering projects
  • Engage with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and clients

About You

We are looking for an experienced H&S professional who:

  • Has a strong background within construction and/or civil engineering
  • Has operated at senior or board level, influencing strategic decisions
  • Is fully up to date with current UK health & safety legislation and emerging regulatory changes
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills
  • Has a proven track record of improving safety performance across complex projects
  • Relevant professional qualifications (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) are expected.
