Boyd Recruitment are currently recruiting for a medium sized family run Civil Engineering contractor based in central Scotland. Our client has been in operation for over 30 years and has built a successful business with a stable client base including frameworks in the private and public sectors. Due to expansion and succession planning, they are looking to engage an Associate Director / Contracts Manager with the opportunity to grow into a senior role within the organisation.

Our client delivers a diverse selection of products including:

  • Civil works
  • Security contracts
  • Energy and infrastructure projects
  • Mod projects

The Associate Director / Contracts Manager will be responsible for the general management and commercial success of the civil engineering division of the business. You will be responsible for a management team of around 5 and a labour workforce of about 50. You will be responsible for the profitability of the business, managed through meticulous CVR management, communication with your team, and a diplomatic approach to variations and client requirements.

You will be expected to business develop on behalf of the client, meeting existing clients, attending tender meetings, and networking events. The business is at a comfortable size; organic growth is always a possibility, but increasing profitability through efficiency is always a company target.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable management experience in the Civil engineering contracting market, ideally as a sub-contractor
  • Experience in Estimating
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Experience of managing multi sites
  • Experience of managing CVR / Cost and budget management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead teams to a common goal
  • A flair/desire to learn business development to help build the business
  • Willingness to work across central Scotland
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to work additional hours when required.
