The post holder will be responsible for the following duties:
- Set up and operate 3 and/or 5 axis CNC Milling machines using set up sheets and NC program data within allocated time frames.
- Select, build, and install tooling/hardware that is required for the machining process.
- Be proactive in identifying and solving issues that may arise during setups and production.
- If necessary, make modifications to the NC programs to ensure components conform to specifications.
- Fully inspect components to ensure they meet the customer requirements using precision measuring equipment and customer supplied documents.
- Provide technical support, guidance and advice to operators and apprentices.
- Perform routine daily factory and machine maintenance tasks.
- Comply with all BPE housekeeping, 5S, health and safety, quality standards/legislation and contribute towards making improvements.
- Concise and accurate record keeping including job card and non-conformance completion.
- Finish parts post machining before they proceed to final fettling/treatments/dispatch.
- Ensure the engineering databases are kept up to date with the latest revision of electronic data including NC programs and other essential information.
- Work under minimal supervision and on own initiative.
- Carry out and participate in relevant training as required.
- Must be flexible to meet company demands throughout the year including working additional hours.
- Any other reasonable duties as required by the Management team.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 3 years proven practical experience in a 3axis/5axis setting role within a tool room / CNC machine shop environment.
- Be able to demonstrate complete understanding of all aspects of setting and operation of CNC milling machines.
- Demonstrate clear understanding of engineering document interpretation and use of precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to react to and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Demonstrate proactive approach to identifying and solving machining related problems.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere and on own initiative.
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance record.
Desirable Criteria:
- Ability to demonstrate a full working understanding of Heidenhain CNC control including the ability to competently console program from engineering drawings.
- Have good working knowledge of a variety of different jigging/fixturing/machining methods associated with machining.
- Knowledge of CAM software.
- Good standard of IT literacy.
