The post holder will be responsible for the following duties:
- Create programs for CNC lathes and turn-mill machines.
- Perform set up and prove out on CNC machines.
- Operate machines and measure parts to ensure conformity with specifications at all times.
- Monitor operation and machine displays to detect malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults, analyse, and improve programs and methods to maximise machine efficiency and/or reduce risk of non-conformance.
- Concise and accurate record keeping including ensuring the integrity of the technical database.
- Work under minimal supervision and on own initiative.
- Any other reasonable duties as required by lathe cell lead or management staff.
Job Specification
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 3 years programming, setting and operating experience on Fanuc based multi-axis CNC lathes and turn-mill machines.
- Have a high standard of PC literacy - use of Microsoft Office applications and Windows type network environments.
- Be able to read and interpret and understand engineering drawings.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere and on own initiative.
Desirable Criteria
- At least HNC/HND or similar qualification in a mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Working knowledge of using Mastercam.
- Experience of 3 axis CNC machining centres.
