JOB SUMMARY: The Trainee Pre-Press Support will receive comprehensive training across a range of pre-press functions, including CAD design, artwork preparation, and plate making.
THE ROLE:
- CAD: Use ArtiosCAD software to design packaging constructions.
- Produce carton samples using a cutting table.
- Prepare multi-up layouts for tooling and production.
- Create varnish blanket files and cut varnish blankets for printing presses.
- Liaise with customers, sales teams, and production departments to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and accurately.
- Artwork: Review and preflight customer artwork files to ensure they are print-ready.
- Produce and issue accurate customer proofs for approval.
- Carry out reprographic work for lithographic printing production.
- Platemaking: Complete step-and-repeat layouts of approved artwork.
- Produce printing plates for production.
- Issue printing plates and varnish blankets to the printing department.
THE PERSON:
Essential Criteria:
- 5+ GCSE’s A-C grade including Maths & English or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills.
- Computer literate (Mac and PC).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to learn.
- Persistent, determined, and able to work to deadlines.
- Quick learner with a positive attitude.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience within print production or packaging environments.
- Experience using Esko software, including ArtiosCAD, ArtPro, and/or Automation Engine.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience communicating with both customers and internal teams.
