Job Description
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our growing team. This is a varied role supporting all areas of the finance function, helping to maintain accurate financial records, assist with reporting and reconciliations, support supplier and customer finance processes, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Finance team.
Objectives of this Role
- Maintaining accurate, timely and well-organised financial records.
- Supporting the purchase ledger, sales ledger, payment and reconciliation processes.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting activity.
- Helping ensure finance processes are clear, controlled and consistently followed.
- Supporting a fast-growing business with reliable financial administration and strong attention to detail.
Your Tasks
- Process purchase invoices, ensuring accurate coding, approval and posting.
- Prepare and process supplier payments.
- Assist with sales ledger activity, including customer invoicing and credit control.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records, documents and audit trails.
- Assist with expense management and reconciliation.
- Support payroll administration where required.
- Respond to finance-related queries from suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with audits, compliance requirements and finance documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and efficiencies.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance team as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts or finance administration role.
- AAT Level 3 or above, or equivalent practical finance experience.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how finance supports wider business performance.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting packages such as Xero, Sage 50 or similar.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in handling finance-related queries professionally.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach.

- Experience working in a high-growth or scaling business.
- Experience supporting month-end or year-end reporting processes.
