Are you passionate about discovering and platforming original stories about the natural world from across the globe? Introduced in 2020, our Official Selection showcases creative, bold stories that spark positive, restorative action for our natural world. The Official Selection platforms new and authentic voices, original stories and vital messages about nature.
Pre-Selectors play a key role in shaping Wildscreen’s Official Selection Programme by watching and assessing shorts, mid-length and feature films entered the 2026 competition. This is a flexible, remote volunteer role, perfect for those eager to gain hands-on experience in festival programming and discover original and creative stories about the natural world.
Who they’re looking for:
- Film enthusiasts with a keen eye for storytelling and originality, and a passion for nature and the environment
- Available for the viewing and review period: 5 June to 10 July 2026. (This is a fully remote role.)
- Commitment to watching and assessing a minimum of 8 hours of films, including providing a score (1-10) and a short comment/review via FilmFreeway
- Organised and committed individuals who can meet agreed deadlines.
Help shape the Wildscreen Festival’s Official Selection Programme 2026. Gain film festival programming experience at the world’s leading wildlife and environmental film festival – previous pre-selectors have gone on to programme professionally at other festivals and cinemas. Be part of a global launchpad for authentic storytellers and original stories about the natural world from across the globe. Pre-selectors will be acknowledged on the Wildscreen website and Festival platform.
Benefits based on hours watched:
- Pre-selectors who commit to 8 to 10 hours will receive a complimentary in-person pass to the Official Selection film screening programme in Bristol and Bath, scheduled to take place between 17 and 22 October or a virtual pass to the Wildscreen Festival Awards Film Library 2026, where selected films will be available to watch on demand for up to three months.
- Pre-selectors who commit 11 to 20 hours will receive a complimentary online Wildscreen Festival 2026 pass or a 30% discount on an in-person event pass.
- Pre-selectors who commit 21 to 40 hours of viewing time will receive a complimentary online Wildscreen Festival 2026 pass or a 30% discount on an in-person event pass, plus a one-year NatureStory Pro Membership.
