If you have a passion for the film industry, film festivals, and ensuring people are treated well at events, this role is for you. Coordinators should support the goals of Women Of The Lens Film Festival, the premier platform for British Black women, in front of and behind the camera. This mission is delivered through WOTL’s annual festival, held in November, which features in‑person film screenings, filmmaker and other industry‑led panel discussions, networking opportunities, and workshops.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for leading their volunteer programme, liaising with all Festival teams to ensure the right support is in place pre, during, and post Women Of The Lens Film Festival 2026. WOTL’s partnering venues are usually in London. You will be expected to be available for recces at notified locations, and you MUST be available throughout festival dates.

About You

  • Will ensure support for a number of people from a wide range of backgrounds, so that they can have the best experience possible during the festival.
  • Personable, patient, and willing to learn and pass that learning on effectively to others.
  • Trustworthy and IT literate.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Able to communicate well in person as well as via digital communications such as email and telephone.
  • Hospitable and knowledgeable about Women Of The Lens Film Festival, the film programmes, workshops and all its events.
  • Be able to think on your feet and problem‑solve under tight deadlines, prior to and during events.
  • Able to multitask and be quick‑thinking.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate effectively at all times.
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team as well as on your own, using your initiative.

Some Of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Be involved in some of the recruitment and some training of volunteers.
  • Liaising with venues regarding volunteers.
  • Manage the volunteer evaluation process.
  • Communicating via email and, where necessary, via mobile phone.
  • Sharing documents and using databases via Google Drive.
  • Dealing with sensitive, personal information.
  • Setting online meetings with volunteers and, where necessary, in‑person meetings prior to main events.

Salary

Hourly, London Living Wage during main event days in November 2026 (dates TBC). Where necessary (usually for October recces), you will be reimbursed for travel expenses for travel within London zones 1‑3 via public transport. The closing date for this position is 02/07/2026 at 17:00.
