As Event Manager, you will be responsible for designing, selling, planning and delivering complex outdoor events from initial concept through to on-the-ground delivery. You will take full ownership of your events, including client relationships, budgets, logistics and overall success. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, less structured environment, where multiple premium events may be running simultaneously. You will need to be comfortable juggling priorities, solving problems quickly and contributing to the wider running of the business.
Responsibilities
- Design bespoke events to meet client briefs and win new business
- Project manage events from concept through planning to delivery
- Take full responsibility for event profitability, quality and client satisfaction
- Manage detailed logistics with exceptional attention to detail, including accommodation, transport, schedules and supplier coordination
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and freelance delivery teams
- Deliver events as part of the core delivery team when required
- Contribute to wider business needs beyond core responsibilities, including operational support and internal projects
- Act as a strong ambassador for the company's values: dependable, trustworthy, professional and approachable
Qualifications
- Confident negotiator, able to manage face-to-face client relationships and win business
- Pro problem solver with the ability to make clear, effective decisions under pressure
- Experience designing routes or itineraries using relevant mapping or planning platforms
- Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with high levels of numeracy and literacy
- Technically curious and quick to learn new platforms and systems
- Willingness to enhance the final event experience by supporting delivery in a leadership or guiding capacity
- Budget management, forecasting and cost control using Excel
- Clear, accurate written communication, including event documentation and manuals
- Leadership through influence and direction rather than direct line management
- Confidence and integrity when dealing with demanding clients and complex scenarios
- Flexible, adaptable and resilient in a dynamic environment
- A collaborative team player who values the contribution of a wider delivery network
- Proven experience delivering outdoor or endurance-style events for corporate, charity or private clients
- Experience managing both single-day and multi-day events
- Full ownership of event planning, budgeting, logistics and delivery
- First-hand experience negotiating with clients and third-party suppliers
- Comfortable working with sole responsibility in a small business environment
- Understanding of seasonal pressures and fluctuating workloads
- Full, clean driving licence (ability to drive vans or minibuses is highly desirable)
- Physically fit and comfortable with the demands of event delivery, including manual handling and long or irregular hours
- Additional European language skills are a bonus
