To teach, students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in school and elsewhere.

Technician requirements:
· To help prepare, organise and maintain D&T resources, materials, and equipment in the teaching rooms and workshops.
· Ordering, replenishing materials, organising, and making resources for lessons and be able to use excel and keep a budget sheet.
· To service and maintain equipment and machinery in the D&T and workshops.

To providing technical advice and assistance to teaching staff and pupils.

Make exemplar projects when required
· To assist with display of work in the workshop, exhibitions and image of the week/Instagram to promote department.
· Practical assistance during lessons particularly examination groups.
· To be prepared to accompany curricular trips and visits.
· Able to use laser cutter and 3D printer or be willing to undertake training.
· To communicate effectively with the parents of students as appropriate. * Where appropriate, to communicate and co-operate with persons or bodies outside the school.
· To follow agreed policies for communications in the school.

To have a background in woodwork with a knowledge of plastics, metals, and electronics.

To be self-motivated and be a good communicator in terms of department requirements and willing to assist in developing new ideas for delivery.

Ability to operate 3D printers; laser cutter and the interest in learning new technology. Training can be given if necessary.

To be flexible and be able to adapt plans at short notice.

To understand the health and safety requirements and best practice in D&T and which include regulations relating to COSHH, Health and Safety at Work Acts and Electricity at Work Regulations. Training will be facilitated where necessary.

Experience of already working as a DT Teacher Flexibility and adaptability as role may vary day to day.
