Bowson Engineering is a family-owned market leader in bespoke sheet metal fabrication, proudly based in Stoke-on-Trent. With decades of experience and a strong reputation for high-quality craftsmanship, we specialise in the in-house production of hobby craft kilns and a variety of custom products including benches, hoppers, frames, and more. We are currently seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our growing team - someone who takes pride in their work and can bring technical drawings to life through precision fabrication.

About the Role

As a Welder / Fabricator, you will primarily work with thin sheet metal (1mm - 5mm mild steel), fabricating and assembling kilns and various other products from folded components. You will be required to read and interpret technical drawings, ensuring you produce work to our high standards. Your attention to detail, ability to work independently, and hands-on, practical approach will contribute to our team's success.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • MIG welding of mild steel sheet (1mm - 5mm).
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to fabricate jobs.
  • Working independently to complete jobs to a high standard.
  • Operating various fabrication equipment, such as guillotine, steelworker, pillar drill, nutsert tool, and bandsaw.
  • Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and quality control measures.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have at least 5 years of MIG welding and fabricating experience.
  • Be proficient in reading technical drawings.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
  • Show the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Possess a hands-on approach to fabrication and assembly tasks.
  • Have a strong understanding of health and safety protocols in a fabrication environment.
  • Be a team player with good communication skills.
