Are you our next CEO?

The BOWRA Foundation is a small, dynamic, and fast-growing Dorset-based charity committed to supporting people living with the lasting effects of stroke and brain injury. We aim to help them rebuild confidence and regain independence through practical activities, alongside supporting the Armed Forces Community. We are now seeking an exceptional individual to become our next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to guide us through our next phase of evolution and further develop our impact.

As CEO, you will provide strategic leadership, hands-on management, and robust governance for the BOWRA Foundation in accordance with the mission and objectives set by the Board of Trustees. You will also serve as a key ambassador and the public face of the Foundation, working in partnership with the Chair.

Key responsibilities

1. Work with the Chair to implement the BOWRA Foundation strategy with clear goals, objectives, and operational plans.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including beneficiary activities, fundraising, events, and administrative functions.
3. Manage and motivate staff and volunteers.
4. Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and funders.
5. Champion the values, purpose, and reputation of the BOWRA Foundation.

About you

We are looking for a committed and inspiring leader with:

• A successful track record as a CEO, Executive Director, or in a related position within a charity or not-for-profit organization.
• Strong knowledge of charity governance and responsibilities involved in running a charitable organization.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to act as a compelling ambassador.
• A personal connection to, or empathy with, those affected by stroke and brain injury, and knowledge of the armed forces community would be desirable but is not essential.
