We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individuals to join our busy kitchen team as a Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant at Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Calne. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in hospitality, catering or professional kitchens. Whether you have previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Catering Assistant, Dishwasher, Kitchen Assistant or Food Preparation Assistant, or are looking to gain valuable experience in a hotel kitchen environment, we would love to hear from you.

The Role: As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting our chefs and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently. Working as part of a friendly and professional team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating commercial dishwashing equipment
  • Maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation areas
  • Supporting chefs with basic food preparation tasks
  • Assisting with deliveries and stock organisation
  • Following food safety and health & safety procedures
  • Helping to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations

This is a full‑time role, working 40 hours per week on a shift rota, which includes 08.00‑16.30 and 16.00‑23.00. Due to the rural location at the Bowood Estate, reliable transport is required and free on‑site parking is provided. The Estate is easily commutable from Chippenham, Devizes, Trowbridge, Swindon and surrounding Wiltshire areas.

  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and busy periods
  • Previous kitchen, hospitality, catering or cleaning experience is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided
