Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort is looking for a professional and enthusiastic Bartender to join our Conferencing & Banqueting Team.

About The Role

Working under the direction of the Conferencing & Banqueting Management Team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional bar service across our busy events operation.

From conferences and gala dinners to weddings and private functions, you will ensure all beverages are prepared and served efficiently while providing outstanding customer service throughout every event.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a shift rota basis.

Flexibility is essential, as shifts will include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays to support our events programme.

Own reliable transport is essential due to the rural location which is easily commutable from Chippenham, Swindon, Devizes, Melksham, Bath, Corsham and surrounding Wiltshire areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to the highest standard across conferences, banquets, weddings, and events.
  • Deliver friendly, professional, and attentive customer service, ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional experience.
  • Set up, stock, and maintain event bars before, during, and after functions.
  • Confidently recommend beverages and maximise sales through effective upselling where appropriate.
  • Accurately process cash and card payments using the POS system.
  • Assist with stock replenishment, glassware, garnishes, and cellar duties as required.
  • Support the wider Conferencing & Banqueting team with event preparation, service, and breakdown.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation, and food and beverage safety in line with company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of all events.

About You

  • Previous bar experience is essential, ideally within a hotel, conference, banqueting, or events environment.
  • Confident preparing a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • A friendly, professional approach with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Own transport is essential due to the hotel's rural location.
