Bowmill Poole is currently seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join our aerospace engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong quality background and experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
As a Mechanical Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring that all products meet strict quality and compliance standards throughout the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for inspecting components at various stages to prevent non‑conforming product and maintain the high standards expected within the aerospace sector.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect products at planned stages, including first-off, FAIR, final inspection, pre-treatment, and goods in/out.
- Carry out detailed dimensional and visual inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
- Raise Purchase Orders for subcontract suppliers as required.
- Identify non‑conforming product, raise NCRs, and ensure parts are correctly labelled and contained.
- Communicate quality issues promptly to Quality Engineers and production teams.
- Complete FAIRs in line with company procedures.
- Use customer quality systems and software (e.g. Net-Inspect).
- Work to customer‑specific requirements such as DSQR.
- Compile and approve Certificates of Conformity.
- Contribute to RCCA 8D meetings as required.
- Previous experience in a similar Mechanical Inspector role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Aerospace industry experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of inspection processes and quality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to maintain high standards of process control across all quality activities.
- A reliable and organised approach to inspection work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with production and quality teams.
