About the Role

:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to join our Central Region, based at our Head Office in Heage, Derbyshire. Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Director and the Central Regional Directors, you will be working as part of our small team of busy, hard-working, and highly motivated health & safety professionals.

This is a full time, permanent role. 40 hours per week, Mon – Fri. Some travel and occasional nights away will be required.

Duties of the Role:

  • Liaison with Quality, Environmental, Social Value and Sustainability teams, insurance department, HR and Cranes and Lifting / Plant / Site Services teams.
  • Support prequalification and bidding / planning process.
  • Assist in preparation of fire risk assessments, traffic management plans, H&S Plans, Environmental Impact Assessments, etc.
  • Carry out accident and incident investigations and follow up action.
  • Prepare, develop, and deliver internal training to company employees.
  • Carry out site toolbox talks / respirator face-fit testing.
  • Carry out fixed premises inspections / audits.
  • Noise surveys, light surveys and assessments.
  • Assist review of procedures and site documentation
  • Complete audits and inspections to support OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 accredited management systems.
  • Produce reports for management meetings, investigations, etc.
  • Participate in industry and local safety groups.
  • Supporting with auditing – we have several accreditations in our business including OHSAS 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
  • Visiting approximately 1 per site per month plus and providing regional support at head office for preconstruction, tender, procurement, etc.
  • Fortnightly site safety inspections – ‘scored’ site safety inspections are completed by our independent Safety Consultants who are an integral part of our business.
  • High degree of autonomy – so must be reliable and able to work on own initiative.
  • National travel / nights away will be required occasionally including to head office and other regional offices for meetings and training.
  • Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Good communication and ‘people skills’ – you will be dealing with our clients, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers as well as our own staff at all levels and in many disciplines.
  • Experience of a multi-site / multi-discipline organisation is desirable.
  • A strong background in construction and building is essential, as is a good base knowledge.
  • Experience of environmental / waste issues
  • Qualified to or working towards level 6 vocational qualifications or NEBOSH certificate level with Chartered IOSH membership.
  • Current, CSCS card – Health & Safety Manager.
  • DBS and BPSS checks will also be required
  • Flexibility, energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Forward thinking, knowledgeable, reliable, and organised.
  • You will need to see the job through to completion and be dependable.
  • Ful driving license
