About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Central Region, based at High Edge Court, Church Street, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 2BW. The role reports directly to the commercial lead on a £50m project within the education sector. There are excellent opportunities for progression and promotion within the Central Region due to ongoing business growth.

The current site for this vacancy is located in Sudbury, Suffolk; therefore, travel will be required, ideally 2-3 days a week.

This is a full-time, permanent role, ideally 40 hours over 5 days per week, with a start time of 8 am to 5 pm, with flexibility by agreement.

Duties of the Role:

  • Support to line manager
  • Financial control of project sections
  • Support team members for successful project delivery
  • Maintain high standards of quality, service, and business performance
  • Address issues early by promoting resolution
  • Ensure accurate, real-time reporting as required
  • Achieve project targets while maintaining client and supply chain relationships
  • Assist with Subcontractor Procurement, orders, and Contract Administration, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Maintain tracking documents such as procurement schedules and warranty trackers
  • Ensure compliance with regional and company procedures for subcontract payments
  • Understand and gain experience with contract forms, amendments, and documents

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Main contractor experience with procurement and subcontractor management
  • Good organizational skills
  • Accurate administration and compliance with standards
  • Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities within teams
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Adaptability to business needs
