Due to an upcoming retirement, we are supporting one of our long-standing partners; a fantastic manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Engineer. Based in Glossop, Derbyshire, you will join a large multi-skilled team where people stay; most of the employees have been there for many years. If you have a solid understanding of PLC systems, enjoy being hands-on and want stability, responsibility, and a long-term career, this is a fantastic company to be part of. About you:

  • You are a Mechanical Engineer with a relevant engineering qualification or time served with an understanding of PLCs
  • Multi-skilled (electrical) would be a huge plus
  • Solid experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and responding to breakdowns
  • A team player who can work well across production and engineering
  • You are highly organised, reliable and take pride in doing the job properly
  • Competent IT skills and experience of using SAP (desirable)
  • You are based locally to Glossop or within an easy commute

About the role:

  • You will provide hands-on mechanical maintenance in a busy manufacturing environment
  • Maintaining and repairing production equipment such as pumps, belts, conveyors and laminators
  • Supporting fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems alongside the wider team
  • Carrying out a mix of planned, preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work
  • Working closely with production to get lines back up and running safely and efficiently
  • Accurately logging work completed, downtime, and parts used
  • Keeping engineering documents, tools and procedures up to date
  • Supporting improvement and site projects as required
