We’re looking for an experienced, talented Purchasing Manager with an engineering background, for one of our clients in Greater Manchester.

About You

  • You’ll have proven purchasing or procurement management experience within engineering.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with experience managing complex supply chains.
  • CIPS/MCIPS qualification or equivalent professional standard.
  • Engineering qualification or strong technical aptitude, including the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems, ideally SAP.
  • Experience managing and developing a purchasing team.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional overseas travel.

About the Job

  • Lead strategic and operational purchasing activity across the site.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with wider business objectives.
  • Manage the purchasing budget, supplier relationships and high-value contract negotiations.
  • Drive cost savings, continuous improvement and supply chain resilience.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Finance to ensure material availability.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of six direct reports.
